Geordie Greep spent five years as guitarist and co-founder of Black Midi, the London avant-rock band that made some of the most formally adventurous music in British rock before dissolving in 2023. The band's sound was restless — it didn't sit still, didn't follow a template, didn't apologize for being difficult. It was the kind of thing that either grabbed you completely or left you cold. There was no middle ground.
With Black Midi gone, Greep has room to take that same energy somewhere else. His solo work is stranger, more personal, less bound by the shape of a band. The songs move differently. The production is darker. He's not trying to be Black Midi without the other members — he's doing something that wouldn't have existed inside that project.
Why Flucc Wanne
Flucc Wanne is Vienna's most reliable small venue for music that doesn't fit anywhere else. Underground, low-ceiling, the kind of place where the crowd actually cares about what's happening. No phone screens held up. No talking through the set. The people who come here came for a reason.
It's the right place for this. Greep's solo work is the kind of thing that needs a room where people are listening, not a festival stage where half the crowd is still deciding if they care. The intimacy matters.
On the Night
July 8 at 20:00. Tickets via Ticketmaster. The venue holds maybe 300 people on a good night. If you're interested, don't wait — shows like this sell out quietly.

ImPulsTanz 2026 — Christos Papadopoulos: My Fierce Ignorant Step
- When
- 9 July 2026 – 12 July 2026
- Where
- 7th · Neubau
Christos Papadopoulos makes his Vienna debut at ImPulsTanz with *My Fierce Ignorant Step* — a full-company performance that channels the energy and fearlessness of youth. Working with ten dancers, the celebrated Greek choreographer draws on the monumental musical work *Axion Esti* by Mikis Theodorakis and the poetry of Odysseas Elytis to explore what it means to move with "fierce ignorant" confidence, the lust for life, the speed, the sense that anything was possible. The dancers merge into a collective body through precisely composed movement — it's both rigorously structured and utterly alive. Four performances across four nights at Volkstheater (July 9–12). Tickets from €10. This is the first time Vienna audiences will see him.

- When
- 3 July 2026 – 12 July 2026
- Where
- 16th · Ottakring
The Last Abstraction is an artist-run gallery on Ottakringer Straße in Vienna's 16th district, operating on an open-call format that explicitly describes itself as fair and accessible. Tonight (July 3) it opens a group show of 12 street artists, running through July 12. The vernissage is at 18:00 with free drinks and music. This is the kind of space that shows work you won't find in the commercial gallery circuit — the sort of venue that exists because artists decided it should, not because there was a business plan. Ottakring itself is one of Vienna's most genuinely multicultural neighborhoods, and Ottakringer Straße has the texture to prove it. The gallery is open Thursday to Sunday, 18:00–22:00. Finissage on July 12 at 18:00 with DJ Pezel.
