Aurora sits on the 16th floor of the Hyatt Regency Vienna with its own dedicated lift entrance — you don't walk through the hotel. The space is Nordic in spirit: warm wood, a working fireplace, and enough glass to make the city feel like it's in the room with you. On clear nights the views carry all the way to the edge of Vienna's sprawl.
What to Order
The cocktail list is Scandinavian-inflected — think fresh herbs, unexpected bitters, restraint. The house signature is the Passionato Basil Smash, which is what you should drink if you're uncertain. Prices sit at €12–18 per drink, which is fair for the location and the pour.
The Rhythm
Sundays: Brunch runs 10am–2pm. It's a buffet format — seasonal dishes, live cooking station, desserts. €35+ per person. Book ahead.
Friday and Saturday evenings: Live DJ from around 9pm onward. The bar pairs a three-course menu with either cocktails or wine. This is the event-night version of the space — more formal, more structured, louder.
Other nights: Open as a regular bar from 5pm weekdays, 4pm weekends. The fireplace makes it worth visiting in winter; the views make it worth visiting in summer.
Why It Works
August in Vienna is thick. You climb sixteen floors and suddenly there's air. The rooftop catches the breeze that doesn't reach street level. The fireplace means you're not sweating through September either. The views are real — not a postcard version, just the actual city spread out below. It's the kind of place where you arrive for one drink and stay because the light is good and nobody is rushing you.

10. Genussfest — Sussitz
- When
- 10 October 2026
- Where
- 2nd · Leopoldstadt
Sussitz marks a decade at the Karmelitermarkt with a producer-focused celebration: 20+ winemakers and food artisans from across Austria pour their own bottles and tell their stories. Guest of honor is Vittorio Gianni Capovilla, one of Italy's most respected distillers—a figure revered in the field for revolutionizing fruit distillation through water-bath methods that preserve delicate aromas. This is the kind of event where you actually talk to the people making the wine, no velvet rope, no gatekeeping. The afternoon runs 15–21h on October 10 in the 2nd district.

The Karmeliterviertel's open-air farmers' market runs Fridays and Saturdays year-round on Karmeliterplatz in the 2nd district. Once quiet, the neighbourhood has transformed around it—galleries, studios, and restaurants now fill the streets, but the market itself remains anchored in the practical: locals buying vegetables, not tourists buying vegetables for photos. The dining scene has grown without losing the neighbourhood feel. Come early if you want a seat at one of the surrounding cafés; stay for lunch if you find yourself lingering. Free entry; vendor prices vary.

Vienna's oldest Baroque park, opened to the public in 1775 by Joseph II. Tree-lined avenues and meadows stay open year-round. In autumn, light filters through the chestnuts at an angle that makes everything look like a film still. The north side has a bakery that opens at seven — early morning before the joggers and kids arrive is the time to go.
