Café Savoy opened in 1897 and has held its ground on the Linke Wienzeile ever since, a Viennese coffeehouse in the old sense: a place where time moves at its own pace and nobody hurries you along.
The interior is the draw. The mirrors are enormous — the second largest collection in Europe — and they give the space an unexpected grandeur. Sit with coffee and a pastry and you're surrounded by reflections of the room, the other guests, the light shifting across the day. It's the kind of detail that makes a place feel like more than just a café.
What to Order
The menu is straightforward: breakfast runs from sweet (French toast with banana and Nutella) to savoury (eggs, ham, fresh orange juice). Lunch and dinner include schnitzel, gulasch, pasta, salads — solid Austrian and European cooking without pretension. The weekly menu rotates; recent specials have included paprikahendl with spätzle and Armenian cold soup. Desserts come from the display case: Sacher torte, apple strudel, various cream cakes.
Coffee is Julius Meinl. A small espresso costs €3.40, a large brauner €5.30. The brunch — offered on the first Sunday of each month — is €24.90 and includes a buffet.

- Where
- 14th · Penzing
A multimedia exhibition on queer forms of remembrance, death, and transience at Queer Museum Vienna. The show explores how traditional mourning rituals often fail to reflect queer lived realities — how death can mean erasure or reinterpretation, how queer people are separated from chosen families and social contexts. Artists present mourning as collective experience and envision queer alternatives to funerals and burial sites. The work spans installation, video, performance, and film, with pieces on lesbian vampires, drag queens as undertakers, and the remembrance of destroyed autonomous spaces. Curated by barbara stöhr. Thu–Sun 2–6pm. Free entry.
