Olive Café & Concept Store folds a café, beauty salon, and concept store into one Josefstadt address on Skodagasse 10. The kind of place where an hour disappears without trying.

The Space

The café side is the anchor. Housemade cookies, Mediterranean-leaning plates, coffee that holds its own. The concept store carries selection — design objects, small goods, things that suggest a curator's eye rather than a buyer's algorithm. The beauty salon is there if you want it; most people just sit and stay longer than they planned.

Falter, WIENerLEBEN, and Falstaff (91 points) have all noted it. The 8th district has a strong neighborhood café culture, and a concept store-café hybrid that earns 91 Falstaff points is a specific kind of find.

Why It Works

The slow-morning energy is real. You can sit with coffee and a pastry, browse the concept store, and book a treatment — or just stay at the counter and watch the room. The space doesn't perform. It's not trying to be cool or Instagram-ready. It's just a place where the coffee is good and the time moves differently.

When
10 October 2026
Where
2nd · Leopoldstadt

Sussitz marks a decade at the Karmelitermarkt with a producer-focused celebration: 20+ winemakers and food artisans from across Austria pour their own bottles and tell their stories. Guest of honor is Vittorio Gianni Capovilla, one of Italy's most respected distillers—a figure revered in the field for revolutionizing fruit distillation through water-bath methods that preserve delicate aromas. This is the kind of event where you actually talk to the people making the wine, no velvet rope, no gatekeeping. The afternoon runs 15–21h on October 10 in the 2nd district.

Queer Immortality

When
2 October 2026 – 24 January 2027
Where
14th · Penzing

A multimedia exhibition on queer forms of remembrance, death, and transience at Queer Museum Vienna. The show explores how traditional mourning rituals often fail to reflect queer lived realities — how death can mean erasure or reinterpretation, how queer people are separated from chosen families and social contexts. Artists present mourning as collective experience and envision queer alternatives to funerals and burial sites. The work spans installation, video, performance, and film, with pieces on lesbian vampires, drag queens as undertakers, and the remembrance of destroyed autonomous spaces. Curated by barbara stöhr. Thu–Sun 2–6pm. Free entry.
