Oscar's is the day-to-night café bar inside Wilde Vienna, the design-led aparthotel that opened in January 2026 in the 1st district's former post office building on Fleischmarkt. It opened in June 2026 as the second concept alongside the Rascal brasserie.
The Interior
Designed by Stephanie Barba Mendoza, the space reads like a modern take on Viennese café culture — strong colours, rattan bistro chairs, vintage lights, lounges arranged for lingering. The palette runs warm: yellows, greens, oranges. It's the kind of place that invites you to stay longer than you planned, whether you're working or just sitting.
The Menu
Breakfast starts at 7am. All-day dishes run from noon until 10pm: chicken with cucumber salad and green goddess dressing, anchovy toast with honey and butter, a breakfast burger. The drink list moves through the day — barista coffee and matcha in the morning, Austrian wine and Viennese beer by afternoon, cocktails by evening.
There's also a small shop: Austrian chocolate, Manner, Eder charcuterie, house-made jams, Italian pasta, Greek olive oil. The kind of thing you didn't know you wanted until you saw it.
Why It Matters
Fleischmarkt is not a neighbourhood that gets many new openings. The location alone — near Schwedenplatz, a corner of the city that can feel overlooked — gives this a specific angle. The design carries real weight. It's the kind of place worth walking into.

Sussitz marks a decade at the Karmelitermarkt with a producer-focused celebration: 20+ winemakers and food artisans from across Austria pour their own bottles and tell their stories. Guest of honor is Vittorio Gianni Capovilla, one of Italy's most respected distillers—a figure revered in the field for revolutionizing fruit distillation through water-bath methods that preserve delicate aromas. This is the kind of event where you actually talk to the people making the wine, no velvet rope, no gatekeeping. The afternoon runs 15–21h on October 10 in the 2nd district.

Her sculptures and installations occupy Kulturdrogerie's basement space in the 18th, where the architecture itself becomes part of the work. The gallery opens Thursday, October 1 at 6pm. A multimedia exhibition on queer forms of remembrance, death, and transience at Queer Museum Vienna. The show explores how traditional mourning rituals often fail to reflect queer lived realities — how death can mean erasure or reinterpretation, how queer people are separated from chosen families and social contexts. Artists present mourning as collective experience and envision queer alternatives to funerals and burial sites. The work spans installation, video, performance, and film, with pieces on lesbian vampires, drag queens as undertakers, and the remembrance of destroyed autonomous spaces. Curated by barbara stöhr.
