Wiedner Wein Eck is not a wine bar trying to be a gallery. It's a wine bar where people come to drink wine together — groups, friends, regulars building a habit. Opened May 20, 2026, by Aleksandar, it's focused entirely on Austrian wines (Gemischter Satz, Grüner Veltliner, orange wines) plus a curated Mediterranean selection. The space has music, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the concept is straightforward: an evening gathering spot.
Austrian Wine Without the Ceremony
The bar runs regular tastings and events year-round. This is not a sommelier performing knowledge at you — it's a place where you can ask a question and get a straight answer, or just sit with a glass and let the evening happen.
Frankenberggasse is in the 4th (Wieden), one of Vienna's best-walked neighborhoods. The street has the kind of texture that makes you slow down — small shops, real buildings, the pace of people who live there. A serious Austrian wine bar on a street like this fills a gap that didn't have a name until it appeared.

Her sculptures and installations occupy Kulturdrogerie's basement space in the 18th, where the architecture itself becomes part of the work. The gallery opens Thursday, October 1 at 6pm. A multimedia exhibition on queer forms of remembrance, death, and transience at Queer Museum Vienna. The show explores how traditional mourning rituals often fail to reflect queer lived realities — how death can mean erasure or reinterpretation, how queer people are separated from chosen families and social contexts. Artists present mourning as collective experience and envision queer alternatives to funerals and burial sites. The work spans installation, video, performance, and film, with pieces on lesbian vampires, drag queens as undertakers, and the remembrance of destroyed autonomous spaces. Curated by barbara stöhr.
