Martin Wölfl won the World Brewers Cup in 2024. In June 2026, he opened Wildkaffee — a small café built around pour-over and espresso executed at the standard you'd see at a major competition. This is not the default for Vienna.
Why This Matters
Vienna has coffee culture. The city's café tradition is real and deep. But Austria's strict roasting regulations create a particular constraint: finding beans roasted to the precision required for specialty competition-level brewing is difficult here. Most cafés work within that constraint and do it well. Wölfl is not working within it — he's sourcing and roasting at a level that makes the constraint irrelevant.
What to Expect
The space is small and indoor. You can watch the pour-over happen — the technique is visible. Prices are €4–8 per cup. If you've ever watched someone brew coffee and noticed the details (water temperature, bloom time, pour rate), you'll notice them here. If you haven't, this is a good place to start paying attention.
The café opened in June 2026. It's still new. The city hasn't fully discovered it yet.

Sussitz marks a decade at the Karmelitermarkt with a producer-focused celebration: 20+ winemakers and food artisans from across Austria pour their own bottles and tell their stories. This is the kind of event where you actually talk to the people making the wine, no velvet rope, no gatekeeping. The afternoon runs 15–21h on October 10 in the 2nd district.

A multimedia exhibition on queer forms of remembrance, death, and transience at Queer Museum Vienna. The show explores how traditional mourning rituals often fail to reflect queer lived realities — how death can mean erasure or reinterpretation, how queer people are separated from chosen families and social contexts. Artists present mourning as collective experience and envision queer alternatives to funerals and burial sites. The work spans installation, video, performance, and film, with pieces on lesbian vampires, drag queens as undertakers, and the remembrance of destroyed autonomous spaces. Curated by barbara stöhr. Thu–Sun 2–6pm. Free entry.
